Yogya - Jakarta

Day 3 at Yogya we were going back to Jakarta, by train. We wanted to take the train to see a little of the countryside of Java. The train left a little early in the morning so we slept for  while in the train first, but the nature when I woke up was beautiful. There was mountains and rice fields and djungles. The photos are quite bad though when you take them from inside a moving train but I tried my best.
The train was almost 8 hours from Yogya to Jakarta and was very boring when you forgot your headphones in your place in Jakarta. There was some movies playing in the train so I tried focusing on that.
Back in Jakarta I went to get my passport back from the Immigration office. That was a Thursday and I was leaving to Finland on Sunday.. Guess if I was nervous that I wouldn't get it back before I had to leave... So pointers if you wanna go to Indonesia for a longer stay, get your passport renewed in time, cuz they are fluffing slow ther!

Yogyakarta Day 2

Day 2 we woke up at 3.30am as the car was going at 4am from the Hostel to the temples outside Yogya. We decided to see the temples from the mountain beside the Borobudur temple. The car drive was the bumpiest ride I have ever been on, then there was a little hike to the top of the hill. From the hill we saw the sun rise at almost exactly 6.03.
After the sunrise we took the car down to the temples; for some breakfast. A dry bread with some jam on, some weird fruits and a cup of tea. After this we went to see the mighty temple Borobudur, a buddhist temple that no one knows how it got there. It took a couple of hours and when we were done we went on to the next temple. The ride to that temple was even worse...
The next temple was called Prambanan, and was a Hindu temple. Almost as mighty as Borobudur. We were quite exhausted at this time from all the walking so it got a little boring..
When we got back to the hostel we slept for a bit before we went to the market place again to buy some souvenirs and eat some Indonesian food.

Look I'm a Buddha!

If you could touch the Buddha inside it would bring you luck!

Yogyakarta Day 1

The last week in Indonesia I didn't have any work, just holiday, so then I went traveling! I wanted to see what all the fuss was about in Yogyakarta with the temples they had there so me and a Polish girl flew to Yogya on tuesday morning the 4 of August.
We tried to take the bus to the hostel and we managed it, but when we got to the hostel we couldn't check in because it was too early. And as we flew from Jakarta 6 am we were fairly tired so we slept for a while outside the hostel in their Gazebo.
We still had to wait for a while until we got our room so we went to find the closest grocery store to find something to eat and then we went to an internet café. At 2pm we got to check in to the hostel. We then dropped our stuff there and went to see the main street in Yogya. There were a lot of stands there with souvenirs and other things to buy; and I bought myself a comfortable pair of pants. We also tried to go for a ride on a bike, it was basically a chair in front of a bike with a super old man biking around. Thank god it had a small engine, otherwise we wouldn't have got anywhere!
After this we then found our way back to the hostel for some hours of sleep before the early morning rise the next day!

Green Bay

This is were I have been living for the past three months in North Jakarta. You can even see this huge building when you fly in to Jakarta. I live in one of the smaller towers on the 31th floor, high enough... In the middle of these buildings there is also a mall, which have not been good to me or my luggage ^^

Long Holiday

This weekend was a long weekend in Indonesia. The muslim is celebrating their "christmas" so we had holiday from Thursday to Tuesday. Very nice time to relax and do nothing ^^
Thursday I went for lunch with the office people and afterwards I went with some girls to give food to the poor people in Jakarta.
Friday and SaturdayI were in Tangerang with some work mates celebrating the Idul Fitri, with food and cakes.
Sunday was spent at Ancol Waterpark just relaxing in the water under the sun.
Monday I spent by the pool at my building, getting red as a firetruck... It still burns!!.. Yesterday I went to see the movie Ant-Man. I thought it was gonna be some stupid childrens movie, but it was actually kind of cool! :D

I have been driving a little here too, so now it's gonna be so weird going back to Finland and drive on the other side of the road ^^

Filming

We have been filming different spots from work, to our Independance Day Event at Hype next month. Last week we were at the National Monument. This week we have been at Kota Tua, the old town, to a miniature park of Indonesia and a spot were some rebels killed someone I think.

By now I have only two more weeks of work and then one week of holiday before going back to Finland! I miss home but it's also nice being here in the warmth, wearing skirts and dresses all the time without being cold!

Weekend @ Ancol

Both Saturday and Sunday were spent at Ancol. Saturday first at the theme park Dufan, riding some attractions and having fun!

Funny they have the same logo as the Marvels show S.H.I.E.L.D.

Sunday I met another intern here in Jakarta, we went to Ancol again. This time to go walk around a park and then alongside the beach.

Photoshop

When I don't have anything else to do at work I try to write on my thesis... But the thesis is not that fun to write all the time so then I try to figure out photoshop!

With a little help I figured out how to make me a new header on this place! It's really fun to play with photoshop and you always learn something! :D This time the header represents the four seasons on Finland! (though the first pic is from Summer in Budapest)

Hype Festival

The last two weekends we have had the Hype Festival in North Jakarta. Here are some pics!! (:

Indonesian Food

Some food here in Indonesia is really good and some other is just weird! It also depends were you eat it. A couple of days ago I had Siomay, which is some kind of fish ball or something, that you eat with peanut sauce and a little soya. It is quite alright cuz it doesn't taste like fish. You can see in the picture (:

Some other good food is Sate, which is grilled chicken on sticks, and this you also eat with peanut sauce. Some traditional food is the Nasi Goreng, which means fried rice, and can be with chicken or seafood or what ever you like.
For dessert Ice and jelly is very common, either together or then Ice with different flavours. Like this Nutella Ice Mountain...

Healthy Food?

It's been a while since I posted some food pics now. Well, here it is. It is quite hard to find western food in Indonesia so I made some own food for ones. I was gonna make Chicken Tortillas, but the tortilla bread is 5 times more expensive here than at home so I used salad instead, and it worked very well. Very delicious! (:

I also made a bet with a friend to see how long we could go without candy and other sweet things, so for now fruits are awesome snack!

Durian & Zoo

Saturday evening was spent at Central Park, a big mall in Jakarta, eating and shopping. After the shopping mall we went to a small place to try durian ice cream. If anyone of you know what durian is you know that it smells really bad, and i can tell you the taste is not that good either... Well at least i have tried it now!

Sunday I went with the local bus transport for the first time in Jakarta, and it was not fun! It was very boring and very long, and all the people staring at me didn't make it anymore pleasant... The zoo was nice, though I didn't have time to see all the animals I wanted so I might go back again! (:

Have a great Monday everyone! (:

Birthday Weekend

This weekend was spent celebrating myself and another girl from the office. Friday I met another intern in Jakarta and we went to a club in South Jakarta. I also got to practise a little Indonesian on the way home, cuz the driver didn't know where to turn :D a little proud of myself there!

I even got Birthday Sushi at the restaurant! :D

Also pampered myself a little on my birthday with a  french manicure! :D

Saturday I spent at the pool, have to get a little brown too when I'm here! Sitting inside all days doesn't make me brown..
In the evening the whole gang from the office plus a couple of more people went to another club. It was so much fun going out with everyone from the office!

Ponco Island

Saturday was spent on the sea! A little over one hour outside Jakarta this island can be found. The water was so blue and nice!
We were playing with jetski's and went swimming. The water was really salt though so my eyes hurt as fluff...

Doctor

I got the flu after we came from Bali. I had this terrible pressure in my face so I went to the doctor.
The first "doctor" thought it was just the sun cuz I was a little red in my face, but I said no it's not the sun. Then he called for another doctor that said it was my sinuses and I had an infection. They had to take xrays to be sure so after pictures and stuff I got medicine and got to go home.
So this is how I look "nude"! Hah

Oh and this is how they give you medicine in Indonesia! Not really like in Finland...

BALI

Bali was amazing! So sad that we only had 3 days there.. Maybe I have time to go again! We were staying at a super nice hotel with a pool right outside our bedroom door.
We arrived quite late on wednesday so we went staright to the nigthclub to dance a bit (:

On Thursday we spolied ourselves a bit with massage and having our nails done. I think it was 30€ for an hour massage and an hour manicure, and this was a more expensive place! Definitely gonna have some more massage!

On Friday we then went to do some watersports. First we tried the banana boat, so much fun! Then we went for parasailing, and the view was great! And last we went snorkeling, which was amazing! I think I saw the whole cast of Finding Nemo there! I also got to try a little diving and went 10 metres down, where I found a really cool starfish with black spikes on it!

On Saturday, our last day, went to some local stores to buy some souvenirs to take home. We also visited this really cool 3D museum!

Lovely time in Bali with two lovely girls from work! See you again sometime Bali! The beach outside our hotel!
